Some of my friends used to wonder why in the same holiday, they got a sunburn but I don't lol 🧛🏻♀ So, let me share with you guys, my tips to protect our skin in the sun 🐥
This is a non-sponsored post btw, just a PSA.
1. Don’t just use sun protection but also know which type you’re using.
It’s important because different type of protection works differently.
☀ Physical sunblock (Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide) works like a protective shield.
Use right before you go out in the sun and reapply every 2 hours.
☀ Chemical sunscreen (methoxycinnamate, oxybenzone, etc) works by first allowing the UV Rays to penetrate to skin then transforming it into non-damaging wavelength of light and heat
You need to apply 20 minutes before heading out in the sun to activate. If you use right before you go out, then for the first 20 minutes you basically don't have sun protection.
Reapply every 2 hours
2. Use enough amount of sunblock/ sunscreen.
Use at least 1/3 to 1/2 of a teaspoon. So... NO, your foundation or powder with SPF will NOT be enough to protect your skin.
Simply because you won’t be using half of a teaspoon of foundation on your face
What I look for in a sun protection is physical (mineral) sunscreen. As long as they have Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide listed as high as possible in the ingredient list. My sensitive skin tends to react quite badly with chemical sunscreen :(
I'm still partial whether I'm ok or not with nano sized minerals, because non-nano minerals gives quite an unbearable white cast.
Plenty of other sun protection tips but I’ll keep that for another day. You can also ask me anything below and I try to do some research for ya ⛱

A new class of ultrathin light absorbent material can absorb any wavelength of light from UV to microwaves, and then rapidly heat up to as high as 160 oC under sunlight in an open environment. The technology is believed to be suitable for a wide variety of uses such as desalination of seawater, color displays, photodetectors, and optical components for communication devices as it could simply harvest solar energy, boil water, and work as an infrared detector.
